Stopping rollover audio

Using the Rollover Caption feature, I've created text boxes that are audio narrated. When the mouseover occurs the text box opens and the audio begins. When the mouse is removed however, the text box goes away but the audio continues to the end. Is there any way to stop the audio when the mouse is moved away from the hotspot?

    Rick,
Thanks for the info. I'll definitely look into upgrading.

    Hi kildebeck

Sounds like you are using Captivate 1. This is the standard behavior in that version. If you were to upgrade to version 2, the standard behavior changes to what you are looking for. Audio only plays while the rollover is displayed. Once you mouse off the hot area, the audio ceases to play.

Your call on whether this is worth the price of upgrading. Keep in mind that there are a great many other features too.

    Sincerely... Rick

    Hi, Rick!
I have a single screen with introductory audio and the five rollover spots, each with its own audio. I am having a hard time getting the audio to play only when the user mouses over. I tried pushing the start time of each rollover past the start time of the introductory audio, but unless I space each one past the other, they simply play the audio whether the user mouses over or not. Do you know what I may be doing wrong? I'm using Captivate 2, but also recently installed Captivate 3.

    Hi J

Are you certain you assigned the audio to the correct object?

I ask because it's a common issue I catch in nearly every Captivate class I conduct. Note that when you insert a rollover object (Rollover Image, Rollover Caption, Rollover Slidelet) you get Two different areas. One is the area that the user mouses over to trigger the other. Frequently folks assign the audio to the mouseover area. If you do this, the audio plays when the mouseover area becomes available. What needs to happen (if this is what you have done) is to remove the audio from the mouseover area. Then double-click the object that appears when you mouse over and assign the audio to that object instead.

    Cheers... Rick
