Streaming Video not working in Captivate

Hi,

We were trying to embed a streaming video (see link below) into a Catpivate project by selecting "Video -> Insert Video > Event Video > Already deployed to a web server ....." and then copied the following link into the URL filed. When we published the project and launched it on browser, the videoplayer on that slide didn't show up and the video didn't play back.

Also, we tried to use the Chrome "Developer Tools" to inspect the network, it seems this particular video wasn't on request on Page load.

Does anybody have any idea on this or could tell us the correct way of embeding streaming videos into Captivate?

Hi Amy,

I am Sorry but Streaming is Not supported on HTML5 , Let it be RTMP or HTTP.

The only workaround is to publish it as a swf file and then upload on your LMS.

Streaming will Work fine on SWF.

Yes and no. You can't stream directly but you can use an embed code and stream from Vimeo or any other media server.

Though I have one suggestion-- On the slide where you want to put the video-- Go to Slide Properties-- Action --On Enter-- Open File or URL -- Paste your URL in the Space and the set it to open in current window.

Now try publishing and check if your video plays this way?

Hi Himanshu,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

We had read the link above but that seems to be specific for rtmp streaming videos and we have no problem of embeding rtmp streaming videos in Capative.

As we need the output in HTML5 which doesn't support RTMP, we're looking at HTTP Adaptive Streaming, or if that's not possible, basic HTTP Progressive Download from our CDN.

Any idea on how to get this type of video working in Captivate?

Hi Amy,

Video Streaming is not tested and supported on HTML5 output.
