.swf media (video) not playing on preview or publish

Hi there,

I have a responsive project in Captivate 8. I have a software demonstration where there is scrolling, which Captivate appears to turn into a flash movie. Upon publish or preview, the screen remains white and nothing shows or loads. This happens in all three breakpoints.

The media is listed in the library under "media- Fullmotion11_1.swf"

Can you help me solve this issue?

I avoid FMR-slides whenever possible (instead of scrolling, just clicking on the scrollbar can be done in many situations) or replace them by cpvc-slides. Those slides will be published as mp4 and are compatible with HTML output. Did you upload the file after publishing?

The work flow is bit more complicated if you want to use CPVC-slides. You have to end the software sim recording just before the FMR-slide is expected. Then use the Slides Button, Video Demo and you'll be able to capture the mouse movement, scrolling, dragging. When it is finished (you will be able to use the video editor as well), you can add more classic software sim slides. To replace a FMR slide after the full recording is finished is tougher, because you have to set the captured application in exactly the same situation as for the FMR slide.

Thank you as always Lily! In this case, I think I can mimic the scroll with a screen capture or two to avoid the re-record.

More than anything, I'm glad I know what it's called now (FMR) so I can find it within the forums.

Is this a case where the FMR is simply not supported in that output? Or is there a way (albeit, no ideal) to use FMR for html5 publishing?

For HTML output I simply avoid FMR. I heard different opinions but to avoid having to repair later, I prefer the workload I just described.

FMR stands for Full Motion Recording. Another tip: if you want to use it (only for SWF output); use 32-bit instead of 16-bit (Preferences). If not, the quality difference with static slides is pretty big.
