Taking Screen Shot Images with Captivate 8

Hello, when I take screen shots with Snaggit or other screen capturing programs, they often get distorted when they move to Captivate.  This is especially the case when I need to make them smaller.  However, whenever I do screen captures using Captivate - the images look good.  I know you can take a screen shot using software simulation, but often times I don't want the screen shot to be the whole slide.  I simply want it to be an image on my slide.  Does anyone know of a way to use the Captivate capture functions to take screen shots that can be used as images?

Thanks!

Snagit, Snipping tool, and other capture tools can work fine for static images, provided you capture them at the correct resolution, and avoid scaling afterwards. Every rescaling for bitmap images leads to quality loss. Downscaling while keeping the width/height ratio will cause the least.

Thanks for your speedy answer! Is it possible to do with Captivate capturing features?  I'd like to have that flexibility.

Lilybiri hit the nail on the head. Make sure you know your screen size before you capture, then go into Captivate, select software simulation, select the correct screen size and fit the window to that screen size, so you capture the correct size right from the get go. Hit record and with every mouse click you get a screenshot. I'm working on a software demo right now and it works fantastic. The screen size fits perfectly to my project, so the image is never distorted. Practice a little, you'll figure it out.
