Template Image Box

Hi. Obviously I'm a newbie if I can't figure this out and I need some help.  When opening a Template and double clicking the image box it takes me to Slide Properties and not to My Pictures as in the video tutorials.  Instead what I have to do is Insert Image to get to My Pictures then resize the image  and paste it into every slide.  Now what's up with that?  This is not what happens in the video tutorials.  Bottom line is my Templates aren't working according to plan so someone please help.
