Question

Text Animation Effects

I have searched this forum but have probably used the wrong key words to find an answer. A co-worker and I have inherited files with text animation effects. They were originally created by people who thought if one text animation was good then several hundred of them was better. Is there a way to remove text animation effects? I was hoping for a 'none' choice in the drop down menu selection, but that does not seem to be the case.

Will we need to delete the old line of text with the animation and re-type the text without applying text animation? I know I can substitute a different effect (perhaps something consistent that won't make eyeballs bleed half way through the presentation) but there are a whole heck of a lot of them. I also notice that text animation effects seem to affect the ability to change text size and change, on occasion, how the text looks.

We are working with Captivate 3.

Thanks.

Hi kateTheElder and welcome to our community

Unfortunately there does not exist any function that globally allows you to convert a Text Animation to a standard Text Caption. Sounds like a neat idea though! One you would be well advised to report as a Feature Request to the Captivate Development team. You may do that by clicking here and completing the form you should find there.

In the mean time, you will have to hand edit each of the existing Text Animations, extract the text and insert it into standard Text Captions. I tried to find an automated means of possibly capturing the text from these beasties, but nothing I found seemed to carry it out of Captivate into an editable format.

    Sincerely... Rick

Thank you for your answer. I was to the point where I thought this would be the case, but the confirmation is appreciated. This forum is very helpful and I appreciate that people like you provide information so quickly.

    Hi again Kate

I'm an elder myself, having hit the big five oh last year.

I was re-reading your issue and thought it would be worthwhile to point out that you should probably consider submitting a WishForm to request a feature whereby one could easily right-click a Text Animation and convert it to a standard Text Caption. Or perhaps ensure that Text Animations are factored into the mix when exporting as either XML or a Word Document. You should find the WishForm at this link.

    Cheers... Rick
