Text animations in Captivate 6

I have installed 64 bit version of Captivate 6 and cannot add text animations to slides. I assumed this was an installation problem so I unistalled, re-downloaded and re-installed the program but the problem still persists. As I try to add the object nothing happens...

Text animations created in 5.5 projects will play when opened in 6. The properties panel acknowledges them as text animations but does not display the other animation effects so the effect can't be changed...

Has anybody else experienced this problem?

Mark

No.  I thought that possibly you were opening a Cp 5.5 project in Cp6 and finding the text animations did not work too well there.  The Cp4 to Cp5 migration had a similar issue.

In your case, if you cannot add new Cp6 text animations even to new blank Cp6 projects then the issue has nothing to do with Cp5.5.

The only thing I can suggest is that maybe you need to trash the Preferences folder so that Captivate 6 can recreate a fresh one on next launch.

There are plenty of threads on this forum explaining about where to find the Preferences folder and how to rename it so that Captivate recreates a new one.

I think you may find that you need to delete the 5.5 text animations and add ones that came with Cp6.  These text animations are actually widgets and there may be some incompatibility between the versions that is causing this issue.

Thanks for the reply but not really sure I understand. The problem is I cannot add new cp6 text animations to cp6 projects. I opened a 5.5 project in 6 (after the cp6 didn't work) to see if Captivate knew what the text animation was - kind of in the vain hope that it might trigger the 'add text animation' feature in CP6 into life.

Are you suggesting I go into thew program files of 5.5 and delete text animation 'widget' files?
