Text box not visible

I'm using the Learning Interactions template shown below.  To the right of the widget there is an open area where I inserted a text box.  I have selected Bring to the Front.  I've reviewed all the settings for the box and the slide.  When I preview the project, the text does not appear.  There is a white square where the textbox should be, but no text.  How do I make the textbox visible?
