Text entry box - correct entries field

I am trying to find a way to add spaces to the correct answer field.  I have answers that have spaces but I want a user to get the answer correct if they use multiple spaces.

Example: the answer is "FD 8556655"  but the user could enter:

"FD       8556655" (multiple spaces)

With the multiple spaces it would still recognize the "FD" and the "8556655"  seperatly and still be correct.

Is there a 'wildcard' or some way I can have as many spaces as the user wants and still be correct?

Any help is much appreciated!

    Hello,

A wildcard is not possible, as far as I know. To resolve this, I enter multiple correct answers, do not think that a user will enter more than 3 spaces. So in that case I would enter 4 correct answers, without, with 1, 2 and 3 spaces. Perhaps someone else can give you a better answer.

Thanks!  I did start to try this possibility.

The issue I am running into is, my answers get even more detailed.   The next answer requres 3 sections that are correct....

The software they use allows them to use as many spaces as they need.  Basically, I wanted to simulate the software.  If I have to put ever possibility it would end up being hundreds of correct answers.

Example:  "FD Smith 8556612"  The important part is the user types "FD" "Smith" and "8556612"

    Hi there

I'm not sure how well this suggestion will sit with you, but sometimes folks want an ability to enter pretty much anything into the field and have it operate as they desire. The problem is, at first blush you set about thinking about all the possible "correct" answers that may be used and you try to account for them.

But if all you really care to achieve is that they enter something into the field and it really doesn't matter what, you could think a bit backwards. You allow a single attempt. You configure the "Failure" action to really be what happens if they do what you want. The "Success" action is normally irrelevant in this case as you are really seeking a failure in this case. So for the "Correct" answer, you supply something that you never in a kabillion years would expect them to type into the field.

Just thinking outside the box a smidge today... Rick
