Text to Speech

Captivate comes with the “Neo Speech” editor – “VTEditor_ENG.exe”. Each time you have the editor read your text it will tell you that you do not have a valid license and to contact your sales rep. This is very annoying. Aside from that, I want to have a valid copy to use.

This is actually a pretty common arrangement, Adobe is providing a limited functionality version for your use with your license for Captivate, the partner company is banking that there will be users who find this version limited and need to upgrade.

You may be able build a script that will bulk edit the files, and stay within the limited license, or purchase an upgrade to enable the functionality you desire.

BTW, was there a question in there?

Being an Instructional Designer you would think I would edit my own stuff. Opps!

How do I upgrade? I called Neo Speech and they said I had to talk to Adobe. I just want the editor without the sales pitch.

It would of been nice for Adobe to have some explanation on this. Just a user thinking....

Yes, as an Instructional Designer I would think you should edit your own stuff!

BTW, your original post didn't really elaborate on what you're trying to do.

For some things, like timing and certain variations in pronunciation, you can use VTML tags within Captivate to trigger special handling on a word by word basis.

You can check this guide for the syntax and other tags.
