The New Captivate: Adding a Click to Reveal widget to a quiz

Thank you so much for your message! I agree that this version is aimed at another audience. Captivate Classic had so much more customization, options, etc.

Scoring a widget

Thank you for explaining that you don't add scoring to the widget, but to the components on the overlay. However, I have tried adding each overlay component (separately) to the quiz, and when previewing, it still says I'm missing the question. Which component should I be adding scoring to?

Showing the score slide

You mentioned that you're not able to show the Score slide at the end of the quiz without a regular quiz slide. I'm able to do this--but I originally had a regular quiz slide and later deleted it, and the Score slide remained.

About why I'm scoring a widget

I'm an Anthropologist, and instead of being a professor at a university, I have my own small online business teaching Anthropology courses to the general public. These courses are aimed at adults (18+) who want to learn about Anthropology, but don't want to go to college and earn a degree in it. Since my students (currently about 3,000 of them) are taking these courses mostly for fun/personal enrichment/etc., the courses are very different from a traditional university course in Anthropology. For example, these self-paced courses have a competency-based approach, and students are guaranteed to succeed in passing the course with at least an 80% (as long as they have made the effort). The goal of the course is for the students to learn Anthropology in a fun and accessible way, not to challenge them with difficult questions or essays etc. that you would find in a typical university course.

I know that this seems VERY strange to other university professors, but the discipline of Anthropology is currently trying very hard to reach a general audience. This is my contribution to that initiative, and it has been very well received by the Anthropology community! I am currently in the process of re-making my current courses into Captivate format, and I'm creating many new courses as well. I hope to have about 25 courses by the time I'm finished. 

Now that you know the way my courses work, here's how I'm using scored widgets. After each video lecture, there is an "Interactive Activity," where students practice using the knowledge from that lecture. These activity slides include widgets (like cards, hotspots, click to reveal, drag and drop) and interactive components (buttons, checkboxes). The student is able to try each activity slide over and over until they get the answer correct. So their grade for the Interactive Activity will always be 100%. These Interactive Activities prepare the students for the Unit quizzes. 

Here's an example. In one Click to Reveal slide, students are given 3 options with a circular image and text for each option. They need to select the image/text that has the correct definition of Applied Anthropology. I encourage them to try and get the correct answer on the first try. If they choose an incorrect answer, the overlay explains that this choice is not correct. If they choose the correct answer, the overlay tells them that this answer is correct. Only the correct answers are graded--not the incorrect answers, so they are not penalized for choosing an incorrect answer. 

The other Interactive Activity slides with the other widgets/interactive components work the same way. I'm able to include these other options in a quiz and add scoring, but for some reason, I can't get the Click to Reveal scoring to work. 

I would appreciate any guidance you can provide on which overlay component I should be adding scoring to in these Click to Reveal slides. Thank you so much!

Note: I've included 2 screenshots of Interactive Activity slides, just in case you are interested. As these are the first 2 activity slides that a student encounters, they are very, very easy to answer.
