Question

The Success/Fail Captions Disappear after clicking anywhere on the slide.

Hello,

This is my first time using Captivate and I am having trouble with the default quiz settings.

My Success/Fail captions disappear when the user clicks anywhere. I understand this is the default setting to click anywhere or 'y' to continue, but I was hoping that my captions remain until the end of the slide.

What options do I have?

Many thanks!

Best.

LM

If you want something in the default way Captivate works made optional or changed in any way then your usual best option is to log an enhancement request with Adobe.

But personally-speaking, I don't see there's an issue here.  Why would your learners NEED to have the feedback captions remain visible once the learner himself has indicated (by clicking to go to the next slide) that he's ready to move on?  The very reason why Captivate works this way keeping the feedback captions visible until the next user interaction with the slide is so that control is given to the learner as to HOW LONG they want those captions visible.  The standard question slide duration is 3 seconds with the pause point set in the middle at 1.5 seconds.  If your default action is Continue, then it's only going to be about one and half seconds of extra time that those captions remain visible.  Why would anyone click the slide if they still intended to keep reading the captions?

You can drag the pausing point to the right to shorten the inactive part,

that the playhead will move through after the click on the slide which is

the second step in the default Submit process. I wonder if you took out the

message to click the slide or press Y? Avoid to draw too close till the end

of the slide. Another solution is to change both Success and Last Attempt

actions from Continue to 'Goto Next Slide'.
