Question

time to text ratio?

Does anyone know a good ratio of how long to set the duration of a slide depending on how much text is on the slide?.

for example, if I have a text caption of 20 words in length, how much time should I give the reader to read it before it fades out or moves to next slide.

is there a standard formula out there.

thanks!

    Hi there

I'm not sure the ratio is published anywhere, but Captivate has a function that configures Text Captions to adjust their timing based on the amount of text they contain.

I believe this is totally subjective, as Bob may require30 seconds to read something and Mary may only need 15 to read the same text. That's why I'm a huge fan of simply inserting a Button or Click Box object to keep slides paused until the reader has decided to move on.

    Cheers... Rick
