Question

Timeline seconds measurement bar and playhead disappear

I'm using Captivate 5.0.

While working on a video, I looked at the Timeline panel and found that the bar that measures the elapsed seconds and the playhead disappeared.  I found that if I expanded the Timeline panel vertically, a few centimeters of the bottom of the playhead displayed.  Sorry to say that I have no idea what sequence of actions may have caused this disappearance.  Is this a bug others have experienced?  Otherwise, the application is acting normally.

I'm very late to this discussion but...  I am using Captivate 2017 (brand new Captivate user) and noticed this happening on my timelines as well.  I found that if I moved the timeline's slider bar left or right, the timing numbers would reappear.

I use the 'advanced' timeline feature so that I can move the timeline panel to a separate monitor while I"m working in Captivate - so I guess that is considered 'undocked'.

Yes, that is undocked and you are in the Expert UI. Reseting the present workpace (you have custom wprkspaces probably) can help as well.

This keeps happening to me in my current presentation.  For reasons I can't fathom, the timing disappears and, thus, you cannot move or listen to audio in a specific spot.  It comes back then disappears. I've been in touch with Adobe and sent in a bug report.  In the chat session is mysteriously came back....  They had no idea.

Restarting Captivate helps if resetting the workspace doesn't do the trick, it happens less in CP8 then in previous versions.

Hello,

Just out of curiosity, never experienced this: what happens if you change (or reset) workspace or if you make the Timeline panel floating by dragging it out of its bottom dock?

Thanks for your interest in my problem.

When the measurement bar and the playhead disappeared, the Timeline panel was docked in its normal position. I did not try undocking the Timeline panel, so I could not say what might happen if I tried this. The missing items returned after I closed and reopened Captivate. I’ll try undocking the Timeline if it happens again.

Due to workplace restrictions, I could not attach screenshots of the missing items to the Forum post. However, I can attach them to this email to show you what I saw.

· Screenshot 1 shows the Timeline panel with the missing measurement bar and playhead.

· Screenshot 2 shows the Timeline panel extended upwards. If you look carefully at the left end of the area where the items on the slide are located, you can see a few centimeters of the bottom of the playhead, but no top!

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Alan,

Attachments to an email will not get to destination. One of the issues with mailing, is that now your ID is totally visible to other users, try to avoid that (spam). If you want me to get the screenshots, try a private message.
