Question

Timelines and items checked as visible not showing up

I decided to simplify a project and make better use of the timeline instead of making every part of a topic a new slide. When I hit the timeline arrow or scrub through the slide, everything shows up and looks great. Yet when I preview the project, the slides are flat and don't have any of the stepped in objects I so carefully positioned. The objects are smart shapes, images and highlight boxes. Some of them I cut and pasted in. I know about how timelines work and have successfully published Premiere Pro projects. The visible in output box is checked for single item. Any ideas on why this isn’t working?

Hi there,

Do the timing of those objects have a good enough duration in accoradance with the timeline?

Are those objects being hidden by any other object or image, because the top object in timeline will be in the front on the stage, and the bottom object on the timeline will be behind all other objects.

Are you using any effect on objects?

Can you attach a screen shot of your timeline?

Thanks.

Hi Varun,

Is 4.8 sec enough duration time?

This object is not being hidden. I'm sending one of the simpler screenshots...others are more complicated but since the caption (about mobile) isn't showing up on this one then it's probably the same problem.

I've used simple objects with no effects. This is the first project I have created in Captivate so I'm keeping it simple and as a demo. One thing that gets me is the way smartshapes are given numbers...what does this mean? Could cutting and pasting a smart shape (caption) from one slide to another be causing a problem? I created my own theme, styles and template.

Any help would be much appreciated!

HI there

Look at your timeline. Specifically the buttons. See those pause points at the Three second mark? The playhead is stopping there and never reaching the 11.5 second mark where your object appears.

Try adjusting the pause points for the button so they are pausing after perhaps 12 seconds.

Cheers... Rick
