Timing my Buttons

Hi there. I am building a little Captivate 9 course that I want to be "learner driven," so I have a simple CONTINUE button on all of the orientation screens. There are some elements that fade in at different times on this screen (such as speech bubbles). The overall timing for the screen is 4 seco

The button shows during the whole screen, but I don't want to learner to Click and then have to sit there for 4 seconds until the page turns. I am not sure if I should drag the ACTIVE and INACTIVE parts of the button timing to be real short, and then make the button fade in after 3.8 seconds, or if I should leave the button up for the whole time and then just drag the ACTIVE portion to the end...

Guess my question, in general, is this: How do you control the timing of buttons to make them respond very quickly whenever the learner clicks? It seems like the default makes the screen sit there inactive for a long time.

    I'm a bit confused because the default action assigned to a Button is to "Go to the next slide". Your issue might make better sense if the default action were to be to "Continue playing project". So if that's what you are seeing, it would seem to suggest you changed the action after inserting the button.

    With the default setting of Go to the next slide, this slide may be as long as 60 seconds. But if the user watched perhaps three seconds of the slide and clicked the button, they should be immediately transported to the next slide.

    Thank you, I just am using the CONTINUE button, but yes, you are correct, the action is CONTINUE TO THE NEXT SLIDE. But I want it to be ZOOM fast... no sitting around.

    So the answer would seem as simple as configuring the button action to be "Go to the next slide" as opposed to "Continue playing project".

    It would have been easier if you posted a screenshot of the timeline.

    Whenever the user clicks in the 'active' part of the interactive object (I would use a shape button on the master slide myself) the action indicated for the Success event will be executed. When the playhead reaches the pausing point most of the slide is paused (you need another step to pause slide audio). In your case: just make sure that the pausing point is just after the entrance of the last object on the slide and it will be OK.
