Tips in creating Modules, Lessons, Topics in Captivate 9 project

I would like to ask for a tip on how do I categorize recorded simulations in captivate.

For example, I want to create an e-learning about Microsoft Word.  I plan that Microsoft Word is the Project Module or the Course itself.  Then within the module/course, there will be lessons; and within the lessons are specific topics which are actually now the recorded simulations.  I have no plans to use the Captivate Prime.

My plan is it looks like this below.

Project/ Module / Course: Microsoft Word Tutorial

  • Lesson 1: Formatting
    • Topic :  Change Font style and font size   (simulation)
    • Topic: Bold, Italicize or Underline Text  (simulation)
    • Topic: Align Text (simulation)
  • Lesson 2: Saving Document
    • Topic: Save Document as New File (simulation)
    • Topic : Save as Document using Save as Type.  (simulation)

And the list goes on.... I tried consolidating all the simulations in one project and also used Table of Contents, but it does not suit well especially if i combine simulations where a topic is recorded in 2 modes.  If I combined simulations which are all in train mode, it looks better in the Table of Contents. Although when done with all the slides from one folder which i consider as "topic", the player will continue to display the next slide of the next folder, which i dont intend to be...So does it mean like, I need to inset a blank slide with maybe some texts at the end of each folder ?

Are there some work around?

I do not understand the question really. If you allow free navigation with a TOC, there is no way to prevent the user to go to a slide. Why do  you not create a menu slide, with the different lessons/topics? Create navigation from that menu slide and use custom buttons to come back to the menu slide from the last slide of a topic/lesson? Of course, you cannot use a default playbar in that case, nor free navigation with the TOC.

hi lily. there is no menu slide created in the poject. but thanks for the idea. The TOC, then is not a good option. The menu slide with custom buttons will be a good work around
