Question

TLF Text breaks Widget? (Cp5/Fl Pro 5)

Is it just me doing something wrong, or can anyone else confirm that the use of TLF text in a widget renders the widget invalid in Captivate?

TLF stands for Text Layout Framework - it allows you to have more control over the presentation of text in your Flash projects, amongst other things allowing  text to flow from one text box to another in an order you specify.  If you've ever used recent versions of Indesign (and I think Illustrator now) that's the way it works in those packages.

I guess Adobe are unifying the product range to support TLF, and it would seem Captivate hasn't caught up yet (I think) - hence why I'm looking for some confirmation.

The problem is, when you create text in Flash, it now defaults to TLF (rather than classic text).  I had some TLF text buried in a movie clip I was re-using for a widget and I just couldn't understand why Captivate kept complaining that the widget wasn't valid - and I tracked it down to TLF text, I think... at least reverting it to classic text seemed to solve the problem.

Thanks for the explanation!

Flash... Indesign... Shudder... Gives me the heebiejeebies just thinking about it! I greatly admire and envy those that have managed to figure out Flash. What post graduate/doctorate school does it take?

Cheers... Rick
