TOC - Problem with completion marks

Hi

I have created a course with topics. A topic contains both, slides visible in the TOC and slides (software simulations) not visible.

Problem: The completion marks of the topics are set, as soon as the visible slides have been visited, although the non-visible slides haven't been visited.

I created a small demo course (see attachement) to play around with different settings, but couldn't find a solution.

Any idea what I am making wrong?

Thanks

Heinz

The issue is that the items in the TOC will only be marked as complete when all slides in that group (under that TOC heading) have been visited.  Since some slides do not get visited, those TOC items do not get marked as completed.

    There are two solutions:

    Dear Rod

Thank you for your quick reply but there might be a misunderstanding, most probably due to my limited english skills.

My problem is, that the topic item in the TOC is ticked, although not all of the slides have been visited.

And as some of the slides are hidden, the user will get the impression that he completed the topic although it has not.

OK.  That's a little strange.  To my knowledge things normally work the other way, with a section in the TOC not being marked off as correct if some slides under that section have not been visited.  It usually happens because the user does not visit all slides in sequence but can navigate away from the linear progression and jump over some slides without visiting them.

When you say some simulation slides are 'hidden', do you mean that they are hidden in the Captivate Film Strip view?  (If so they will look slightly faded when compared to other slides there.)

Or do you mean that these 'hidden' slides can still be played from the published output, but are just not visible in the TOC listing because their checkbox has been de-selected in the TOC settings?
