Question

Training inside of larger course "jumps" out of training and into course...

So, I have a larger Captivate project explaining a process... I show the user a demo, which they watch with no problems... Then, I have a "Try Me", where the learner actually simulates the steps in a captivate "training" that has been published and is inserted into the larger project as a .swf.  So, for example, Page 8 has the training on it as an animation .. they are supposed to do the entire training and then when the training ends, click next and go to Page 9 and continue with the course.

When the training is played ALONE, it works flawlessly... when the training is played WITHIN the course, it will - at some point when the user clicks a selection on the screen - leave the training and jump to Page 9.

I can't figure out WHY it was doing that... Finally, I put the animation training on the LAST page of the training - and then had a button to re-route it back to page 9 after the training ended. But today, when I played it for my SME, instead of jumping out of the training and going to page 9 like it did (when it was on Page 8 in the timeline) - it jumps out of the training and goes back to page 1 of the training.

ANY information that you can share would be greatly appreciated... I cannot figure out why the learner keeps jumping out of the training/demo (which is published as a .swf and put into the larger project as an animation)... Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Help!

Nesting Captivate SWFs inside other Captivate SWFs is a bad idea for the very reasons you are experiencing.  The settings inside the SWFs tend to conflict with one another in unpredictable ways.

If you want the content inside a project, copy the slides there. Which means you need to FIRST make sure you always capture simulations or demos at the same size as the finished project will be.  ONLY then will you be able to copy the slides in.

If they are not in the same resolution, but a smaller resolution, you could use the approach described here:

Hmmm... I am not sure I understand what you are doing there... I tried both rescaling the original before it was published as a .swf to put into the original course... that resulted in the jumping problem... then, I tried copying and pasting the training demo slides into the original course - this time, both were the same size... What I don't understand is why simple click boxes that were used in the training demo are now causing the learner to jump TO another slide somewhere in the larger course?  I was really hoping my solution was cutting and pasting the unpublished slides into the larger course, but that is not working either.
