Translation: Captivate only exporting captions, not closed captioning as well

I tried exporting my Captivate 9 project  File > Export > Project Captions 7 closed captions

The document produced only shows all of the on-screen text (i.e. captions) not the closed captions.

Why?

How can I fix this for my translation?

Turned out I had to re-colour the background to a different colour. The text way there, it was just all in white!

Hello Ianitza,

Look at the very end of your generated word doc. You should find that closed captions are the last element(s).

If you replace the second copy of the closed caption text with the new language variation, then save the document without renaming - you can then use this doc to update captions etc. in your Captivate project.

1. Export the captions - as you did.

2. Select and replace each 'updated' element with new language replacement. (or send it off to a translator.)

3. Import: Project Captions and Closed Captions

Note that you should save the Captivate file as a new name upon completion of the update to retain both language versions.

Oh - don't forget to save the word doc before you import the modified doc back into Captivate.

How did you create the CC? It is not necessary to do it using the Notes panel (sorry, Paul). You are using CP9? Which exact version number, please? Are you exporting to Word or to XML?

It's been awhile since I used Captivate 7, however if you make sure all the text items are checked off on the Notes Panel, it should export the Closed Captions as well (check the end of the document for the Closed Captions). Here is an example I found online (I'm at a computer without Captivate)
