TTS English User Dictionary Editor - Expired License?

Hi, when I open the UserDicEng.exe to add or modify words for using the Text-to-Speech function in Captivate and I attempt to have the word read by the voice, I get messages saying that either my license is expired or invalid. Do I need to acquire my own license to use voices such as Paul or Kate in my videos? Also, it appears that when I get the program to read out the word I just inputted, it reads the Source text (that is, the one that I want to have changed because it is pronounced wrong) instead of the Target text. Is this a known bug? Or is there an updated version of this program where the Read function works properly?

EDIT: I noticed another question similar to this one asked my another forum user; however, in the solution it links http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/07/text-to-speech_-_user_dictiona.html which says to replace the executable with this file: http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/07/31/t2apatch/UserDicEng.exe except I am getting a "Page not found". Does anyone have an updated link where I could download the fixed executable?

Hi Dveyee,

I believe you have Captivate 5.5, the License has been updated for Captivate 5.5, Can you provide me you contact email, I would email you the File that you need to replace for your version, because in the links mentioned above, would be valid for Captivate 4.

Thanks,

So that others can readily update their own UserDicEng.exe file in Captivate 5.5 here is the link to download the new one:

ftp://cust-dl2:d0wnt0wn@eftp.adobe.com/Cp5.5_Dictionary/UserDicEng_Windows.zip

Be sure to unzip the file in the appropriate BIN folder so that it finds the associated vt_eng.dll file.  For most folks the BIN folders should be defaulting to here:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 5.5\VT\Kate\M16\bin

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 5.5\VT\Paul\M16\bin

And that folks, is all there is to it.

Cheers,

Asterix

Your most welcome! Oops I spoke too soon...

The good news is the new user dictionary installs fine.  The bad news is that there are no Phonetic characters available when trying to define a word by Pronunciation Symbols.

Here is a screenshot of the OLD dictionary attempting to use the Pronunciation Symbols:

Here is a screenshot of the NEW dictionary attempting to use the Pronunciation Symbols:

Is there somebody that can fix this new user dictionary?  Otherwise it is just a useless replacement.

Thanks,

Asterix

Hi Anjaneai,

Thank you for your suggestion; however, I have followed the instructions given in your first link and I still get the same error messages about an invalid license. Are you able to try it yourself and confirm that it indeed does work?

Thanks,

Dveyee
