Question

Tutorial Result Tracking

im looking at getting captivate for a company im doing some work for. the thing I need it to do - which i haven't really found an answer on yet - is to report when people finish the tutorials so that a designated representative can have a real time (or close to it) report on who has finished which tutorial modules.

how hard is it/is it possible - to do that in captivate? i have a team of very talented coders that i work with, but if captivate will automatically generate the results, then its less work for them to do. im looking at another less expensive product that wont do what captivate will, but if i have to have a bunch of stuff coded ether way, i might as well save money on the software and put it to use on the coders - if you follow my thinking there.

i dont need to make the tutorials run in an order, essentially each tutorial will be on a specific section of a user interface. i just need to be able to have a log of which users have gone through which parts in order to have an overview of where each person in in their training.

thanks,

Mike

Similar to many other replies on this forum...
Captivate is primarily setup to report to an LMS. Some LMS products will
send out emails when a user completes a given lesson or course. So if
you have an LMS with such a feature, there's your 'real time' reporting
(though the rep may have to login to the LMS and run a report in order
to see the specific results).

Otherwise, CP can send out results via email...or such is the intent. In
practice, this functionality is far from reliable. It works well for
some, not well or at all for others. May be worth giving it a shot.

Otherwise, you have to hack the JS code to redirect what would be the
SCORM output (for an LMS) to an email or database. Search this forum for
replies by Andrew Chemey and you should find greater detail and perhaps
links to examples or solutions.
