typing not being captured

Im recording a simulation and when i type , it seems that the letters are not being captured individual . It seems that the whole cptx is being captured too fast and i'm losing some of the details to the interactions

    I have the same problem with Captivate 9 on Windows 7. In order to get a slide showing each character as it is typed into a field, I have to take a manual screenshot by pressing the "prt scr" key. This workaround is tedious and time consuming!

    I am recording a custom area in an application running on a virtual machine (VM). Captivate seems to think that the VM is the application, because it does not recognize the application running inside the VM. I suspect that Captivate is getting confused by the application running inside the VM. However, as a Technical Writer for software products under development, I have used VMs for many years and would be surprised if Captivate were not designed to handle such a configuration.

    When capturing a software simulation (not a video), in demo mode the text will be a typing object. In Training and Assessment mode it should replace that by a Text Entry Box. So I suppose you are using a Demo mode? You can replace the typing object by a Text animation (will only run for SWF output however) and then you'll be able to change the animation duration. Rest of capture depends on how you recorded, and you can always insert an interactive object to pause a slide that you think to be important, or insert slides in between the capture slides to give more explanation, again with an interactive object like a Next button.

    Im using a MAC . In the previous version of captivate 6 , there was no problems capturing the keystroke of each letter that i typed . In this version captivate 9, it seems to record so fast that when viewing the output , all you see the final word display. 

    I am using a software simulation .  i do not want to add an interaction or  text animation a as this alot of work when in the OLDer version it worked fine. is there a setting that I'm missing somewhat that would capture all of the keystrokes ? 

     Almost disappointing to have upgraded to the newer version.

    It seems to be a Mac issue, if my memory is correct all users reporting this problem were on Mac. Can you launch a blog report?

    Please let us know the captivate version, platform(Windows/MAC) and what type of simulation you are doing.

    Can you also share the sample cptx, if you dont mind.
