Unable to align text captions and smart shapes with variables

Hi All,

I really enjoy the idea of using smart shapes as buttons.  I'm using them as general navigation buttons.  They are all aligned nicely above the background image:

My issue arises when I add variable placeholders to the smart shapes (or captions):

No matter how I set up x,y coordinates, height, width, and alignment, the objects using variables will not match up with the others.  Note how "page 1 of 12" is mislaigned, despite the object itself being aligned with the other three objects.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Indeed, forgot to mention that it is not due to the shape, but to the fact that the text is rendered differently when a variable is inserted. Sorry.

The caption with the variable is generated in another way (dynamic text), I think that is the problem. You are already lucky that the same font shows up. Which font do you use? And which version of Captivate?

Are the shape buttons transparent on that blue background, with just the text in it? And you used a shape as well for the progress indicator?

Hi Lily,

I'm using a proprietary version of Omnes with Captivate 6.  I tried both captions and smart shapes for the progress indicator and they behave identically.  Here is a version with the font changed to Arial (it's now misaligned lower with this font than with the other font).

Note that in the earlier screenshot, the smart shape aligns perfectly in the editor.  Only after I run or publish the project does the font get misaligned.

UPDATE:

Another observation: when I run the HTML5 published version in Firefox 17 ESR, it appears to align correctly, although the font appears more bold than the rest, despite all objects having the same bold treatment.
