Unable to Share Links to Captivate 9 Published Project

I think I wasted a whole week creating and publishing a project.  Here's my issue:  I need to share my work with my manager (first) and then hopefully with others within my organization.

1 - We do NOT have a LMS platform.  Rather we use Microsoft 365 Videos to share educational content.

I published my project and ran into the following errors:

1 - The project will not open at all in Microsoft Edge web browser

2 - I saved it as an executable file and tried to send that link, but it requires a download (which may be a challenge for my beginner - not technically inclined end user) and its BLOCKED by my FIREWALL.

3- When I copy and paste the link from the project that opens on my workstation, no one can open it.

4- I am unable to use our current Microsoft platform (OneDrive) to get a link because OneDrive does not read special characters...

The list goes on.  PLEASE tell me I did not waste an entire week creating this content that only I can view.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Moderator: this solution is not suited at all for a Captivate published course. Only if you keep to Flash-workflows is it possible to send an executable (exe) file to another user, but you don't need onedrive for it. Since the announcement of EOL of the Flash player, it is recommended to keep to HTML5 output. That means that to give access to the course you either need to upload to a LMS or a webserver, or create an app with Phonegap.

Hi Tiny,

I agree with Rod's assessment of using Sharepoint overall, but I have had success hosting and serving Captivate modules from a Sharepoint server with a couple of organizations. You just need to tell your IT guys to treat it like an external website and they should be able to configure SharePoint to host it. You will only be able to share your presentation though, it won't track users or quizzes etc without an LMS.

Cheers

Thanks for the input everyone. After MUCH trial and error, I finally just scrapped the entire project. My organization’s SharePoint site is somehow tied to the Microsoft Office 365 product and nothing seemed to work.

I ended up spending the day creating workarounds using PowerPoint (bummer because PPT doesn’t have click and drag capabilities that amount to much)…

Oh well, I learned about a GREAT resource (I think Captivate is awesome and since I pay for a subscription, I might as well work on mastering it), and I now know how to “make it work” with other software (although it is MUCH more time consuming).

Install a webserver on your system (WAMP, MAMP....). Upload to that webserver and send the link. That is probably the best way, it allows you to offer HTML or SWF output.

Create an interactive pdf from Captivate. However that means that the user needs to have Adobe Reader with the installed Flash plugin. BTW exe is also Flash based.

Unfortunately, I don’t have administrative rights to be able to do that.

No matter what I do to try to access the published project on any other computer, the result is a blank screen.

I think I just wasted a week, but I really do like what Capitvate offers. It’s disappointing that no one else can view it in my organization.
