Updating a Captivate 3 file in Captivate 8

Hi,

I have an old file created in Captivate 3.

I am now on Captivate 8 and made an assumption if I opened the Captivate 3 file in Captivate 8 the software would update the file so I could edit in Captivate 8 (other software I use does this automatically).

This does not seem to work with Captivate and I am hoping someone can tell me how I can edit CP3 files in CP8.  I no longer have access to CP3.

The file I have is a .cv file, however when I browse through Captivate 8 for the file it is only looking for .cptx, .cptl, .cpvc.    YIKES!

Thanks in advacne for any suggestions you might have.

Thanks!

Sherrie

The extension of Cp-files changed from cp to cptx with version 5. Your version 3 is 10 years old, which means an eternity in IT-world. 'Other software'? Not an application with complexity of Captivate, sorry.

If you want to try to upgrade (which I will not recommend, because I'm sure you'll spend more time trying to fix all errors than when creating from scratch), you'll need an intermediate version (5 or 5.5) and do a two-step upgrade. Since CP5 AS2 is no longer supported, which means you first have to screen the files and take out all AS2 objects. Since you do not have access to CP3 anymore this will prove very tough.

Well that is pretty unfortunate for me.

    I appreciate the information.

    Enjoy your day.
