Question

Updating theme resets all my buttons.

I've made a few courses with the same theme's. Sometimes I have to update or change my master slides. When I want to update these adjustments in my other courses which use this theme too it resets all the buttons I use to the default grey button with the word 'Button' on it. I upload them by going into my themes and selecting the theme I've changed.

Is there a way to do this in a more efficient way that will not change my buttons to the default one?

When you talk about a 'theme' does that indeed include all object styles, the master slides and the skin? I'm just asking this because I did see a lot of so-called 'custom themes' where only the master slides were edited, and the object styles were not created at all.

I do not know any option to change object styles in the master slides or theme's. I've tried putting buttons in the theme but it does not allow me to. So no I probably didn't create the object style. Can you tell me how to do this?

Basic facts about a theme: it includes Object Styles (which you can set up with the Object Style Manager), Master slides and Skin. Maybe you are a newbie to Captivate?

If you want to use certain buttons in your custom theme, you need to create the styles in the Object Style Manager, including the three states, and in case of responsive projects for the breakpoint views you want to use. That is the first step before going to the master slides. Skin can be edited whenever you want. Each theme can have different theme color palettes applied, you can edit such a palette and save it as a custom color palette. More information about colors (where I explained how to use a palette created with Adobe Color as well):
