Question

Upgrade options for 7 and 6

I'm a contractor working with a company helping them develop their customer education strategy and build out the learning needed.

The company has 1 Captivate 6 licence already and I've taken a subscription to (so far) 6 as well.

We have some content built in 6 but I really like some of the features in 7 and want to move to it.

I understand that my subscription should let me upgrade without additional cost but I have two questions about how my colleague should progress.

  1. If he also upgrades will we be able to open the Captivate 6 projects we created and work on them for maintenance?  I assume we would need to save and publish is 7

  2. Can he have the licenced 6 and the subscription 7 on his machine at the same time?

Thanks

Alan

    1. You will be able to open Captivate 6 projects in Captivate 7 and work on them, but once you save them in Cp7 format you will not be able to open them again in Cp6.  There is no option to save back to a Cp6 format.

    2. You can have both Cp6 and Cp7 installed on the same machine.  In fact you can have several major versions of Cp on the same computer.  You cannot have minor version upgrades side-by-side (so you cannot have Cp6.0 and Cp6.1 side by side).
