Hello!

Is it possible to launch a file browser from inside Captivate which allows users to upload text, image or Word files to an LMS?

Captivate itself doesn't have a File Browser object.  But you COULD create a web page with this functionality and then display that web page from inside a Captivate object using the Web Object...object.

If your users are going to be uploading files to your LMS server, that's not something Captivate controls.  So you'd need to set that all up on the server side.
