Use Advanced Actions to skip a slide?

I'm trying to do something I thought would be incredibly simple. If a certain variable is set, skip slide X. My idea was to put an Execute Advanced Actions in the On Enter event of the slide I want to conditionally skip. I put a conditional action that says "If [variable] is equal to 1", and "Go To Next Slide" in the actions section.

But it doesn't go to the next slide. I double checked the variable is set using a text box. I double checked the condition is set up correctly by substituting another action for "Go To Next Slide." Is there anything I'm missing or another way to do this? I can't be the first person to think of this. Thanks in advance, please be kind, I'm not a smart person. And if there are 782 other threads explaining exactly how to do this, my searching did not reveal them, sorry again.

Update: OK also I can do it if I make the skippable question a Knowledge Check. This makes me think Captivate just won't let me skip a question that is part of the quiz, even if it is not scored, which I guess makes sense. But I did want to be able to report answers for this question but not include it in the quiz score (long boring story). So maybe I'll leave this unanswered for a little while in case anyone read this far and knows how to make a question that is reportable but skippable, but if not I'll just mark it answered because the core question is answered. I was doing it right but it doesn't apply to quiz questions. Sorry for rambling.

I asked to see the Preferences. Especially the field 'Required' for the Quiz. Please, leave it set to 'Optional'.

That is indeed the way to go, have used similar advanced actions multiple times.

How did you test, and which output do you want? Can you also tell which version you are using?

Thanks for the reply! Captivate 9 and tested using preview and publishing to LMS. I should have mentioned it is a Question slide I am attempting to skip. After writing the post I thought of trying it on a regular content slide and it worked like a charm. So I guess it is only question slides that this pertains to (?). The question is not scored but is reported, if that makes a difference.
