Use Generic LMS Account and Captivate Name Text Box for Reporting

Hello,

We are creating a pre-employment test and require the user to use a generic account through the LMS. Therefore it is necessary to gather their first and last name within the Captivate SCORM file. I tried using a text box but it will only report this data if "validation" has been activated. When validation is activated it asks for the correct answer, when there is no correct answer, it's just their name. Any ideas on how to get an entered name for parsing data later?

Why don't you try just inserting a Survey quiz question (e.g. Short Answer or Fill in the Blank) and set that to report to the quiz?

It doesn't need a correct answer.

Perhaps your LMS will see the Survey Question and you can search for that Interaction ID.

I think you may be approaching this the wrong way.

An LMS is a LEARNING Management System.  It's a tool for delivering and tracking learning content.  What you are describing is more like a survey instrument where you need to gather information input by someone unknown to a system.  In order to use an LMS and have their actions tracked, people usually need to first set up an account on the system (or already have one on the network to which the LMS is connected and can tap into).

It sounds like you are trying to use a screwdriver to drive a nail.  Screws and nails are both used to achieve similar goals, but the tool being used is wrong.

We use Active Directory for LMS single sign-on authentication. Active Directory has a generic user account that is used consistently for new hire applicants to login to our reception computer. The LMS recognizes this user and allows them to take the Pre-employment test and will gather data, but it places all data from Captivate SCORM file under the one name. If I export a CSV excel file with the results I would like to filter the data by the first reported question titled "Name" so that all scores show up under their name.

Hopefully this makes sense and thanks for your help.
