Question

User Information in Captivate Form?

We're looking to create some interactive learning scenarios in Captivate which, at some point, will require the user to input their Name, etc. At the end, the user's results will be displayed, along with the opportunity to print a 'certificate' with their result and the details they entered at the start.

Is this, or anything like it, possible or am I being ridiculous? Especially as I'm relatively new to Captivate!

Thanks for any help, have a great weekend all

Hi Rik and welcome to the Captivate community!

Unfortunately, Captivate does not allow you to present an all-inclusive certificate. It's possible to create a very basic one in Captivate, but no user results are included. A suggestion for doing so can be found in my 09/21/2007 post to the following thread:

If you have some moderate web development skills, you can intercept Captivate's e-mail reporting mechanism to create your own detailed certificate in HTML. This is the only way I know to access the scoring data in Captivate, aside from possibly creating something as an insertable Flash animation (which is way beyond my skill level so I can't offer any assistance other than to say that it might be possible).

The basic method for intercepting e-mailed results is outlined in this Developer Center article:

Best of luck!

Hi, thanks for the reply - I suspected that this might not have been possible so if anything I'm glad for the confirmation. I'll mention your solution to our web developer and also look in to the Flash option, as that're more my 'thing'. With this solution is it simply a case of creating a 'certificate'-looking .swf, dropping it into the slide where it is needed and throwing in a liberal sprinkling of Text Entry boxes for printing?

I may have to simply drop the results part of the certificate, and maybe even the user's name, but I'll see how it goes. Thanks for the links by the way - very very helpful!
