Using a custom button for the quiz defaults

We have Back/Next buttons we are using throughout the course, and we'd like to use those same buttons for the quiz slides.

I can modify the default Back and Next buttons manually to use the same coloration, etc, but:
1) Is there some way to just add our custom buttons to the list of default quiz buttons, so we can choose them when creating a new style in Edit>Preferences>Quiz>Default Labels? Like adding a font to MS Word - is there a Program Files folder of quiz buttons and we can just put our button there?

2) If not, how can I modify the text in the default Back/Next buttons to actually be the words, instead of << and >>? You can specify the font in a new style, but you can't edit text - it isn't an option.

Which type of buttons are your custom buttons? Are they image buttons? They can be used to replace the default transparent buttons. For most quiz buttons this can be done in the Object Style Manager.

The Review buttons (what you call Back/Next) you are talking about are new, which means you are in CP9. However they are the most difficult to change: their label is not appearing in the Default labels, and they share the same style in Object Style Manager. You can replace them on the quizzing master slides by image buttons. Shape buttons are not allowed on quiz slides. Master slides are part of the theme, if you save the theme after changing the master slides, applying that theme will give you the custom image buttons.

    Got it.

To translate for others, you're going to have to create an image for your button, and save it here: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 9 x64\Gallery\Buttons

Once you've done that, click on the default quiz button for whatever you want to change, and click the dropdown under Style and change it to Image Button. Your image will show up in the list of images.

Custom image buttons do not necessary have to be in the Gallery\Buttons.  There is a Browse button if you want to keep them elsewhere. If you want the inbuilt states, you need to have the 3 images with _over, _up and _down in the file names. The disadvantage of image buttons is that you cannot add a label, it has to be in the images.
