Using Captivate 8 Books to learn Captivate 9?

I bought Captivate 8 a while ago but recently decided to learn how to use it for more than just basic functions - so I went ahead and got some Captivate 8 books for more advanced interactions. Shortly after buying them, though, I did a little more research, and now I'd love to start saving money for Captivate 9 - the new motion paths sold it for me, along with the interface looking much more user friendly (effects under the timing panel, for example).

I hate thinking that I wasted money buying these books. Do you think they could still help me to learn 9? What major differences should I look out for?

No hurry, of course. I need to wait for a paycheck or two before purchasing 9.

Hmmm... there are quite a lot of differences, not for advanced actions but for Effects, Quiz slides, and the new States feature will make a lot of work flows much easier. In my last blog post I offered some more details about some features, not about all:

Lovely blog post! I read it and got super excited about 9 all over again!

Hmmm. But after considering, I will probably end up continuing to practice with 8 with my books, and then purchase 9 sometime later. It's hard when I'm so impulsive and I *really* want those curved motion paths - especially for a project I'm working on for class, which shows Japanese stroke order - not at all pretty with the zigzag animation
