In After Effects, you can use keyframes for special effects.

What can the key frames in Captivate be used for?

    Hi there

In this case, I believe the key frames are only presented as informational tidbits that perhaps allow you to identify where in the video timeline you may want to consider placing other elements to better align with events in the video. Just kind of a visual aid. There is nothing I'm aware of that you can actually manipulate with them.

This is a bit of confusing to me, I'm not a native English speaker and CP-terminology is not always used as it appears in the Help.

When you talk about 'video', do you mean a cpvc (Video Demo) project published to MP4 or a cptx project published to MP4? MP4 is a pure video format. Because sometimes CP-users also use the word 'video' for an interactive tutorial published to SWF or HTML, I want to be sure.

Captivate has no keyframes, but if you do not point to a MP4, it has events that can trigger actions.

    Hi Lily:

I saw this screen when I brought in a video clip into a blank project and clicked edit video timing:. I was wondering what the keyframes were used for in Cp.  (progressive download, show video on stage)

    Hi Bobby,

Captivate really doesn't have keyframes. It does have  a timeline and you can layer objects like AE but you are limited to using Affects,  which are much more like PowerPoint affects, than After Affects.

    Cheers
