Using variable QuizAttempCount to skip content slides in quiz retake

I am working in new Captivate with my first module and am struggling with a variable interaction. I have a quiz in 3 parts with content in between (i.e. Chap 1 - 5 quiz ?s - Chap 2 - 5 quiz?s - Chap 3 - 5 quiz?s). If a learner fails a quiz, I give them the chance to retake. The retake goes back to question 1 thru 5 and then loads chapter 2. I want to skip the content and go straight to ?s 6-10. I have added an interaction to the slide for Chap 2 content "If QuizAttemptCount >1 then go to question 6".

This doesn't seem to work. Is it me or Captivate? I do have another interaction on the page that runs on a bookmark - if bookmark is reached, advance to next slide. ( which is above my quiz attempt variable). Do interactions have to appear in a certain order? I don't seem to be able to re-arrange them.

Any thoughts?

I was able to get this working with some help from support - on the last question in each set, I added a condition - if quizattempt is > 1 then jump to the next set of questions else go to next slide (see image).

The results slide is set to Return to Quiz on fail.

If users take the course and fail the interspersed quiz on the first attempt, retake quiz will bring them through only the quiz questions, and not the content, the second time through.

Hi, @suzannee82290517 this was helpful, thanks! I have a question, for each of the quiz slides, did you select single or unlimited attempts? I want them to have a single attempt at each quiz slide as they go through, but at the end of the course, if they fail the course I do want them to be able to retake all the quiz slides, could you please let me know what settings should I choose?

I did this so long ago, I can't remember all the steps! on the quiz questions, I did set the # of attempts to single

I just see that you asked the same question as follow up on a blog post in the eLearning community. Know that you have to unlearn everything you know or can find about Captivate Classic when using the new Captivate. Being a trainer for Captivate and other Adobe applications I find this weird. Although I still use the rather bug-free version 11.5.5.553 for professional jobs I have explored the New version with the goal in mind to explain the differences and 'translate' workflows. In two decades of Capivate I never had so many crashes and losing so many projects as during that exploration which is not very rewarding.

For quizzes I had some expectancies because it is the only feature where lot has been taken over from previous versions, including most of the system variables for quizzing. No shared actions, no advanced actions make new Captivate look like Rise, needing too many copy/paste including for interactions. To be honest I have not tried out the workflow in that blog post in the new Captivate. I spent two months exploring the new bookmarks because that is one of the features which looked promising over the older versions. My first blog has been published, and I hope to finish one more this week. Maybe I will try some quizzing features later, but the loss of the dedicated quizzing master slides, the ability to export/import Quiz Preferences and Question pools.... not very attractve.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I have been poking around in the new Captivate and this is the first project I attempted - pretty much a simple PPT recorded presentation with quizzes in between sections. I was naievly hopeful it would work. I spent WAY too much time captioning it to go back now (another downgraded feature IMO). I appreciate your blog and tips and have used them in other projects! Will look for the new posts.

You may understand why the marketing team of Captivate doesn't like me. Trust has to be built, and I prefer to be honest. I have been a fierce defender of Captivate, but not a fan of version 12, same as I am not a fan of Rise.

Indeed, sequence of commands in an action is important. I would be astonished if that is no longer the case in the new version.
