Question

Video not playing in Captivate 9. Hangs and does not render. Help?

Hi All,

Video is not currently playing within a elearning module created in captivate 9.

When it gets to the progressive video slide it just hangs with a grey and white animation seemingly appearing to be downloading, but it never does.

It has worked in the past and our IT cannot pinpoint any changes that could be causing the issue now.

It does play in preview mode, but not when fuilly published.

Tried encoding to different file formats without any luck.

Tried to create a simple two page module and still have the same problem.

Publish just as HTML5 works, but then crashes later in the module.

Another problem is that a external MS word file linked to a button does not open for most people.

Any ideas/solutions out there, as I am lost. May have to look at another solution if it cannot be fixed real soon.

Any help very much appreciated.

Happy to share a link if anyone may have an idea.

Thanks in adavnace,

Robin

Are you testing this content locally on your computer or after uploading to the LMS or internet?

If testing locally and having issues, try uploading the same content and testing from a web server.

Hi Rod,

Have tested locally (PC harddrive) and over internal shared network. I assume the internal shared network location would act the same as an external web server?

Thanks,

Robin

Unfortunately NO.  A network file server does NOT act the same way as a Web Server.

You need to upload to an external web server, intranet web server, or localhost web server.  If uploading to an LMS, that will also be a web server.
