Video object/Event video

Hi captivaters,

I've added an event video on a slide and when the video is finished there should be an overlay (that I made) showing up immediately after. The overlay is on the slide though and not included in the video itself.

However, when the video has reached its end the overlay doesn't show up.  I've timed it according to the length of the video. It works fine with sync videos, but not on event video or by inserting a video in a video object placeholder.

I know this type is not connected to the slide as sync, but how do I make my overlay to be shown at the end? And why can't I trim/cut the video in Video editing?

Pro's and cons about event video/video object placeholders?

All info about this is welcome!

=D

Correct answer Lilybiri

Event video plays totally independent of Captivate, has its own control panel. That has some advantages: you can have multiple event videos on one slide, you don't have to increase the slide duration to the length of the video. But you bumped onto the disadvantages: playhead is not moving while the video is playing, video cannot be controlled by Captivate functionality.

Thanks for responding Lilybiri!

Ok, but how can I fix the issue with the overlay?

Another thing I encountered: My LMS + Scormcloud can't play the video due to it can't find the resource.

Do you (or someone) have any idea why that is? I mean, I obviously inserted the video in captivate in its correct format.

Maybe it is possible to detect the end of the video with JS and show the overlay at that moment.  I cannot help you with the JS but have a vague memory that someone posted a solution to detect that event.

If publishing to HTML5, video should be in the subfolder vr can you verify?
