Hi everyone,

I have 2 questions :

– I would like to know if we could add a custom video playbar on a “synchronized” video ?

– I have issue with event video playbar when I publish in HTML 5. The view and look n feel (playbar, skin …) are not the same as in captivate editing project or in preview mode. Is it a known bug from Captivate and HTML 5 ?

Thanks for your answer,

Best regards,

Chris

Because the video in a synchronize video is synchronized with your project (Event video is asynchronous and independent of your project), the navigation controls for your entire project will act as video playback and navigation controls.

Watch this video for an explanation on the two:

Adobe Captivate QuickTip - Event Video vs. Synchronized Video

An alternative to either event video or Synchronized video that is worth considering is to stream your videos to your eLearning project. It puts the strain on bandwidth partially on a provider like Vimeo or YouTube, you can still keep your video's private except for those accessing them from your eLearning project, and when embedded the videos will have familiar controls like what you would find on YouTube or otherwise.

Paul,

Indeed, I already watch your good quality tutorial about the difference between the 2 two videos types.

But I never test integrate streaming video from Youtube or Vimeo.

Maybe that s could be the solution for my issue.

Thank you for your help.

I might suggest that you create the video and player in HTML and insert as an HTML5 animation. There are tons of examples on the internet. When using a native playbar with the video tag, it is up to the browser on how the controls are styled and are very different.

No matter where the video is stored, it won't really have any affect on the end users bandwidth, pull the course and video from two different sources still need to be fed through the same pipe. It would only have an affect if the server the video and course were housed on was getting pinged super hard
