Viewing issues because of embedded flash player version...

Does Adobe have a patch/upgrade that will update the flash player embedded in the individual files/videos that are created.  I am being told by a number of IT individuals that the flash player version that I have is quite old.  If I upgrade my own flash player (on my computer), I am not able to view the videos I create.  It seems that only an older version of flash player can be used.  Are there any workarounds or simple solutions for this.
