Is there a voice recording and playback widget available to embed in a Captivate 6 project. Needed for a listening and practice speaking exercise for a language learning application.

I'm looking for the same kind of functionality!! And frankly I'm shocked it's not available and there isn't more demand for it.

I just got done chatting with someone from Adobe sales, asking if there is an Adobe product that would let me embed voice recording and playback in Captivate or Dreamweaver. He said Adobe Audition, but after some research I think he gave me the wrong info.

The Adobe sales person was trying to sell you another application from the Adobe suite of apps.  Audition will indeed allow you to record voiceover and play it back, but the only thing you can embed into a Captivate project is the resulting audio file.  You cannot embed the recording functionality from Audition.

    Sorry.

Since I've had no replies to this, I'm assuming Adobe Captivate is too limited a platform to perform this function. I'll code directly into HTML 5 and abandon the use of Captivate. Shame, but if it cannot deliver ....

The limitation was not with Captivate. I is feasible to build a widget that does what you wanted.  Similar things have been done in Flash Actionscript.  But honestly, why blame Captivate for the fact that such a widget doesn't exist?

If you think you can pull this off in HTML5, go for it.

    Hello RodWard

I think you misiunderstood me there, apologies for any offence caused. I'm just surprised that such an obvious add-in (or maybe it's not that obvious!) seems to have  been left out of the array of existing Captivate plug-ins. Yes, I know it can be done in actionscript (though I'm no expert), and there are several possible solutions available online which address voice recording. My aim was to elicit a response - as non seemed to be forthcoming on the forum - so thank you for your reply. I do like Captivate - it's a just a shame it won't do this particular task for me!
