Web object PDF files not embedding (Ver 12.5)

After upgrading to ver 12.5, the web object feature of selecting and embedding a PDF file from your system isn't working for me. Even after publishing, the selected PDF doesn't load or preview and there's no PDF file copied to any of the output resource folders.

It's like the PDF file never existed. Is this another glitch in ver 12.5, or is there something I'm missing or not doing right? Like do the PDF files have to be less than 10 mb or a specific format such as PDF/X? Anybody else having this issue?  😢

This is just my observation but it appears as if the PDF is converted to base64 and inserted into an iFrame (as opposed to a link to the actual PDF).  While there are no limits on the data URI spec, what defines the base64, it seems as if there may be limits imposed by individual browsers. If you have Firefox installed, I suspect the PDF will appear. AFAIK, there is no way to get around this browser limitation. I can think of at least two options to try:

  1. Reduce the PDF size (if you have Acrobat Professional, you can try to "Save As Other" and select either Reduce or Optimize)
  2. Upload the PDF to a web server and use the URL option

Linking to a PDF using the URL option works just fine. I'll have to test using an optimized PDF to see if that works.
