Weird problem with audio clips

[New to this board - apologies if this problem has been asked and answered previously.]

I am experiencing an infuriating problem with Captivate (3.0.0, Build 580). When I look at each slide in the normal developer screen, it's all as it should be. The correct audio files are playing at the correct time, everything is fine. But when I preview or publish the file, the audio goes to hell at slide 21 - instead of playing the slide 21 audio, it instead plays the audio for slide 40 and continues to the end of the project (43), then resumes as normal around slide 24 or so. I have tried the following: 1) Deleting and re-creating slide 21; 2) deleting the background audio and attaching it to an object on the slide; 3) looked at the "advanced audio" to see if the problem would show there (it did not); 4) Previewed slide 19 for the next 5 slides, and it worked as intended, but not when I previewed the entire project, previewed it in web browser, or published it.

The only thing that might also be relevant is that this project has been done in two parts - the majority was recorded last year in Captivate 2, and 5 or slides were added recently. I have a colleague do the audio (her voice is much nicer than mine), so she recorded the new slides into a new captivate file. I then imported those slides into the main file, and once the audio clips were in the library, I call them as appropriate in the flow. The original imported slides (with her audio only) have been deleted.

Has anyone experienced this problem before? I think it's clearly a bug, but I am unable to work around it. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like something I unwittingly experienced with Captivate. I found that somehow, an audio file had become attached to an object on the slide, rather than to the slide. Check your timeline and see if there are any audio icons visible on any of the objects in the timeline.(not the audio file that has it's own space in the timeline). If you see an object with an audio icon attached, open the properties for that object, click on the audio tab, and delete the audio.

    I hope this helps.

Just by chance, what are the audio files in question named within the captivate library? example- 21audio, 22audio, etc...

Sounds like the file is a bit...confused.
For such oddities, I generally copy all slides and paste them into a new
project. Some things need to be redone in this situation (settings) but
it generally works pretty well to somewhat clean things up and get CP
    back on track.
    Worth a shot?
