CP2019 is a name used for all releases starting with the version number 11.

However there are 3 main releases under that common name: 11.0, 11.5 and 11.8.  There are multiple minor releases under each of those main releases. The most recent version is 11.8.1.

I know that this is confusing, don't know why they didn't just continue to use the numbers instead of referring to a year, especially since those versions are not compatible.

You find the full version number under Help, About Captivate.

    Hi Lilybiri,

Good grief!  My team was just about to start publishing a ton of courses in v2017, but we needed one more person using v2017 to do the publishing/troubleshooting of the SCORM packaging.  Adobe will NOT let me get another v2017 license, so looks like everyone has to upgrade now just for the publishing and any minor edits, etc.  Do you know what the differences are in those 3 versions?  Many thanks!

That would become a long thread if I need to explain the differences between 11.0, 11.5 & 11.8.

First of all: version 11.8 is only available as subscription license, not as perpetual license. That version is needed if you are on Win11 or recent version of Mac OS. With the most recent one (11.8.1) a lot of the SWF-based features have been deleted, but there are not many extra features compared with 11.5.

11.5 compared with 11.0 is another story: version 11.5 added a lot of new features and improvements. Have a look at this Featured blog post  in the eLearning community. I have never published so many blog post for a release as I did for this 'upgrade' to 11.5:

First Reflections on Version 11.5.0. - eLearning (adobe.com)

BTW did you check on ProDesign tools if CP2017 is not available there?
