Question

What is the "Pause" button formula in the playback controls?

Help is greatly appreciated. I've read the posts regarding problems with setting up a manual "pause" button, and the various work arounds associated with click boxes, new windows, etc. However, the playback controls have a manual pause button- so how does it work?

I desperately have the need to provide a pause button to my users so at anytime while watching the .swf movie they can pause. There are options for pausing at certain time frames (good, but not for this) and options for pausing when entering text (good again, but not for this). The functionality has to exist. Does anyone know what it is? (javascript, anything?)

Thanks.

Ok, here is what I've done. Paul, I took your advice from your site to 'manage' the default playback buttons to suit my needs. Since the default playback buttons work (including the pause button), I simply found the set I liked and removed the Info and Exit buttons. I also used Photoshop to slightly modify the buttons to get the look and feel that I wanted.

Although this does not 100% answer my question, it works as long as I'm ok with where Captivate places the buttons (bottom-left, etc.)

    Gotta love work-arounds.
    Thanks all !

Thanks all. Paul, I'll register for the site. Rick and Seth, thanks for your help too. Even though it is not bedtime here, I have to rush out the door to grab my daughter from school. Please forgive me. I will pick up with this tomorrow morning.
    Have a good night everyone.

Sopranos? Personally, I'm rather fond of the Tenors. But hey ho...

Actually, I've never gotten into them. Don't have HBO unless I'm in a hotel room.

    Cheers... Rick

SethXP, I like what the site has to offer and am ready to register for the solution- however the site will not let me register. It keeps saying that part (the registration) is restricted access? Any suggestions?

    Hi jokorn

If you are adept at picking apart JavaScript and web pages, I've got a small example up at the link below. You should be able to view the source of the page to examine it.

This is a small example of using JavaScript in an HTML page to control a Captivate movie.

Keep in mind that Paul is probably nearing bedtime about now. He lives in the UK. I think it's nearing 10:00 PM there about now.

    Cheers... Rick
