What needs to be inside of a Captivate project file

Hello,

I am new to the Adobe Captivate platform and am hoping to gain insight from this request. What do I need to have inside of a project folder so I can open a CPTX file and republish eLearning lesson.

History/background:

I inherited an eLearning course with 6 lessons. The original 6 lessons were built in Captivate (rendered as HTML5) from an external vendor. Months later, three of the six lessons needed to be updated and was performed by a different external consultant.

We just launched a new LMS  platform. While testing everything in the new LMS environment, some of the lessons with links do not render.

My goal is to try to republish these three eLearning lessons using a different SCORM setting. However, when I try to open the CPTX file - I realize I have no project folder. So I would like to create one and verify I have all necessary objects inside of it. I believe I will need to mix the source files/folders from both the original external vendor and the external consultant who created new source files.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Cindy

A cptx-file IS a zipped folder. It has all the necessary files in that folder, maybe with the exception of videos that are launched as streaming videos.

Thank you so much for the response Lilybiri. I did not know this information. Whenever I try to open the CPTX file I see the attached message. If I review the suggested or possible reasons - nine of them fit. Could import all the objects into a new blank project and re-publish? Thank you!

There can be many reasons for that message. If you cannot open that file, you will not be able to open its Library as external LIbrary to import all the assets in the Library. Beware: those are not all the objects in the file, because shapes, captions, interactive objects are not in the Library.

Do you run CP as Administrator since you are in Windows? Can you clean the Preferences (there is a CleanPreferences file for windows in the utils subfolder.  If this doesn't work, it looks like that file is corrupted.
