Captivate 2017 is an eLearning authoring tool, which allosws you to create engaging, interactive eLearning courses and training simulations. If you want to deploy those courses, you need to upload the published courses to a webserver or a LMS - Learning Management System. Captivate Prime is such a LMS. It takes care of the learner's administration and of tracking the results. That is a very concise explanation.
