Can you please explain? Which version do you use, how did you create the video (cptx of cpvc)? How did you check the 'length', what do you mean by that?

i have captivate 8.0 for windows.  i created the video and saved as .cptx file.  the length of video with minimal sound is 5:26.  when i published it as .mp4, the output was around 1:21 in length and when viewed, it was much too fast.  i looked at the publish settings and it shows 30 slides per second.  i don't want that compression to occur.  i want the same length in the preview to be the same length as the final mp4 file

Default rate, not only for mp4 is 30 Frames per second, also if you publish to SWF or HTML5. There must be another reason why your video is playing so fast. Where did you see the 'length'? Was it in Project Info? Total number of frames should be stored in the system variable cpInfoFrameCount. If you divide that number by 30 you should have the length of the course in seconds.  Those numbers are visible in the panel Project Info. Can you show a screenshot of that panel?
