When Publishing As A Flash Doc My FLV Files Externalize

I am working on CS4 and have imported a flash video into my project (it was actually originally a windows media file that I used the Adobe Media Encoder to change to a flash video).  When I publish the project as an exe file it works great, the video plays perfectly within the project, all is good.

The problem comes in when I try to publish the project as a flash file.  My organization puts the flash files on their intranet so I need the project to be published in this format so that the majority of the organization can see the training.  When I publish the project as a flash file the imported flash video publishes as an FLV file and my project is a flash file that doesn't contain the video.  The FLV video just sits right next to the flash file (which is the project).  How can I get them to publish together as a flash file?

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light onto this issue!!

Amy

Thanks so much! I didn't realize this was the norm when publishing to flash.

Oh yes, I forgot one detail.  I have not checked for the video to be externalized in the preferences/publish settings area.  Those boxes are empty :-)

    Thanks!

    Hi Amy,

Video (FLV / F4V) always externalize when you publish to SWF. This is to prevent the SWF to become too big as videos are usually big.

When you upload the output to the server, you can just upload the videos too to the server. (ie entire publish output folder as it is). Once you do this everything will work ok.

    Thanks,
